Imagine, that somewhere in our city lives a hungry child who will be fed because of the generosity of a person he or she has never met; an unknown someone who has contributed money or made food donations to make a difference. That `someone' could be you.

Poverty is a terrible thing and hunger is the most definitive aspect of poverty, which must be addressed before all others. By alleviating hunger among the poor we can open the doors for them towards a better life. You will be surprised at how prostitution, drug peddling and domestic violence would decrease, if a city like Houston is able to vanquish the problem of hunger among the poor.

Charity food services like those provided by The Houston Charity Center, the Houston Food Bank (Houston Food Bank) and the associated Houston Empty Bowls Committee depend on the generosity of the general public and the corporate world to raise funds and facilitate their activities. Food donations made to organizations like The Houston Charity Center (Houston Charity Center) are tax-deductible.

After Hurricane Katrina's recent destruction, the Bank of America donated $100,000 to the Houston Food Bank. But poverty is an ongoing phenomenon, and individuals as well as supermarket chains and large food manufacturers can make a big difference in helping Houston's poverty-stricken families. One way to help is to organize a food drive at your place of business or your local church.

So as to generate awareness, charity programs often organize innovative drives such as the Chevron Houston Marathon. Also on March 4, the second annual event of the Houston Food Bank Community Kitchen Empty Bowl Project was held which sold $20 tickets to the public.
